Disagreement didn’t cancel love - Pro-life women show grace after abortion activist's awful treatment

A group of pro-life women showed grace, kindness, and generosity to internet personality and radical pro-abortion activist Naima Troutt following a scheduled abortion debate despite her terrible treatment of them. The pregnancy center founder who started the ball rolling on the gesture wanted to be sure Troutt saw the value of human life through an act of kindness.

Troutt is an online voice best known for her debates against the late Charlie Kirk. Recently she posted a clip on the anniversary of his death in which the audio from his murder is played, the mockery of his assassination prompting outrage.

Earlier in August Troutt was part of the Dr. Daf Show YouTube program where she was asked to be the pro-abortion debater in a debate against a series of four panelists among 20 pro-life women.

Troutt was instructed to make claims for debate prompts, stating her position and allowing for challenges from the opposition.

Among the 20 pro-life females invited was Heather Lawless, CEO of Reliance Ministries and founder and executive director of Reliance Center, a pregnancy help medical clinic in Lewiston, Idaho.

Lawless, like other women on the panel, was appalled when Troutt created a vile and viral post mocking the pro-life women before she even met them. Co-panelist Shayla Perez had posted the backstory on YouTube.

The Dr. Daf Show did not inform the pro-life panel members of the name of the person opposing them in the debate. However, Troutt revealed herself in her livestream platform, making personal attacks on the women’s appearances and husbands as well as calling them names after doing an online search about each of the 20 women.

Lawless had learned that Troutt also posted prior to the recording that she hoped she would be paid enough money to pay for her rent, citing financial struggles.

Lawless said she had a dream that God wanted her to give Troutt the money she needed.

“I told God no,” Lawless admitted.

Reflecting on the hurtful statements the leftist spewed online, Lawless admittedly said she was not willing to obey God at that point. She kept praying and felt strongly that God was insisting she contribute money to help Troutt.

A group chat of the 20 pro-life women had been established prior to the debate filming. Lawless revealed this dream and prayer to her counterparts in the chat.

Not everyone was willing to donate to this effort, she said.

However, several of the women embraced this proposed act of kindness, and they contributed a total of $550 in cash for Troutt, which was placed in a card signed by the panelists.

Lawless said she considered giving Troutt the card prior to the debate and thought about making a “snarky” remark, letting the pro-abortion personality know they saw what she said about them.

Once again, God tugged at her and she knew in her heart that snark and intervening ahead of the debate was not the way to go.

“God was very clear,” she told Pregnancy Help News. “Give it to her after the debate.”

During the abortion debate Troutt pulled no punches while her opponents remained composed but firm.

Lawless took part in the debate segment in which Troutt claimed Republicans are pro-birth, not pro-life.

“She came hard for me,” Lawless said. “She was direct and hard and kept referring to pregnancy centers.”

Troutt had thoroughly researched each panelist and knew that she was a strong proponent for pregnancy centers, Lawless said.

At the moment in the debate where Lawless and Troutt interacted Troutt stated pregnancy centers are replacing Planned Parenthood, and they are “not actually medical clinics and not actually run by doctors.”

She claimed pregnancy centers “force” women experiencing fetal anomalies to continue their pregnancies when a fetus is "definitively dead.”

Troutt previously had stated she did not see abortion as murder but “the prevention of the development of life.”

Lawless argued that bonding with one’s terminal baby after birth is “healthier than killing the baby.”

Lawless revealed her role as a pregnancy center founder and encourager to centers across the country, defending against Troutt’s accusations against pregnancy help.

Troutt shot back, questioning whether Lawless were a doctor.

Lawless told her that though she is not a doctor, she has one working for her center as well as a nurse practitioner, stating that half of her staff include medical professionals who provide support in these traumatic instances.

“And I am glad that pregnancy centers are replacing Planned Parenthood,” Lawless told Troutt.

Then debate went on to cover the issues of pregnancy resulting from incest and rape.

At various points in the debate, Lawless said, Troutt commented “You ladies are a lot nicer than I thought.”

When the debate concluded, Lawless asked Troutt not to leave the set.

“I told her, ‘I have something for you,’” Lawless recalled.

Troutt, still a little suspicious, responded, “Good or bad?”

Lawless assured her it was good. She then handed her the card. While it was unopened, Troutt pushed it back to her.

“I can’t take this,” she said to Lawless.

“I told her, ‘We want to bless you,’” Lawless said.

Troutt opened the card and cried.

In the days after the recording, Troutt began to follow Lawless on social media. She privately messaged her and apologized for her demeanor. She told Lawless she would never forget the generosity, and it had changed the way she viewed people who were prolife.

Troutt told Lawless she was going to post another video on her platform and requested to tag Lawless in that recording. Lawless agreed.

In the video, Troutt shared her experience with the panel during the debate and the kindness they showed her at the conclusion. Troutt said that her view of pro-life people had changed and noted she had “a lot of thinking to do.”

Troutt said on the clip, “I was wrong.” She said even though the panelists “did not change my mind” on abortion, it was “the most respectful debate” she had ever had.

Lawless shared the video on social media, stating:

“YOU GUYS. 🥹 THIS is about the debate I did with her. Before the debate, God gave me a dream that I was supposed to give her money to help with her move. I shared it with the other women, and several of them immediately wanted to pitch in too. So I got a card, everyone signed it, and I gave it to her. She cried a little. 🥹 And she called us “noble and lovely.” And here’s the part I LOVE: I gave her the card AFTER the debate. Because yes…we had a SPIRITED debate. 😂 We disagreed. We challenged each other. We definitely did not suddenly land on the same side of everything. But disagreement didn’t cancel love. I still wanted to bless her because God asked me to. And the other women wanted to love her well too. THIS. This is what can happen when we stop treating people who disagree with us like enemies and actually lead with love. You can stand firmly in what you believe AND be radically kind to the person standing across from you. Turns out, conviction and compassion can exist in the same room!”

Lawless credits this outcome to God. She said she and the ladies went into the Dr. Daf program with scripture and prayed as a team. The debate, she said, was grounded on God alone.

Lawless noted Troutt experienced grace that day. And though Troutt was unkind and abrasive before ever meeting each of the pro-life women, God prompted the heart of one of them to do the unthinkable and show her love anyway.

“I see her as a human who is hurt and broken,” Lawless told Pregnancy Help News. “It doesn’t matter that she came after me.”

“I want her to know that she is a valuable human being,” Lawless said. “Afterall, that’s the crux of the pro-life movement. People are always watching. We have to show them Jesus. I am praying for her. I pray she sees life as valuable, that it’s not dependent on the clicks or shares on her media platform.”
