Pregnancy Care Ministry (Uganda) – Rebuilding after loss

Pregnancy Care Ministry of Jinja, Uganda

The past year has been one of the most difficult and yet one of the most hopeful in our ministry's journey.

For more than seven years, Pregnancy Care Ministry (PCM), a life-affirming pregnancy help organization based in Jinja, Uganda, operated from offices located in the Highlights Building along Iganga Road in Jinja. From that location, we conducted counseling sessions, youth mentorship activities, educational outreach, healing programs, and community engagement initiatives serving mothers, newborns, adolescents, youth, and families.

Over the years, the ministry accumulated computers, furniture, educational materials, counseling resources, hospital beds, laboratory equipment, and an ultrasound machine. Much of this was acquired through the generosity of supporters, churches, volunteers, and ministry partners who believed in our mission of protecting life and supporting vulnerable families.

On December 4, 2025, our ministry experienced a major setback.

Following a court-authorized eviction connected to a long-standing property dispute involving the premises, PCM lost access to the facility that had served as our operational home since 2018.

At the time the eviction was carried out, ministry leadership was not present on site. As a result, we were unable to secure or recover the ministry resources that had been accumulated over many years.

In one day, we lost the centre from which we had served our community and the majority of the ministry assets that supported our work.

The experience was heartbreaking.

For some time, we asked ourselves how we could continue moving forward after losing so much. Yet throughout this difficult season, we remained convinced that our mission had not changed.

Our calling is still to protect life, support mothers and families, educate young people, and provide hope to those facing difficult circumstances.

While we lost a facility, we did not lose our purpose.

Tweet This: Throughout this difficult time our mission is still to protect life, support mothers and families, educate young people, and provide hope.

As we began reflecting on the future, we realized that rebuilding would require more than replacing equipment and finding office space. We needed a sustainable path forward that would strengthen both our ministry and our long-term impact.

Recently, we received encouraging news that has given us renewed hope.

Our educational handbook, Your Life, Your Health: Life Skills and Health Education for Adolescents and Youth in Uganda, has received certification from Uganda's National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and has been officially endorsed by the Commissioner for the Instructional Materials Unit (IMU) on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).

The handbook was developed to help adolescents and youth make informed, responsible, and healthy life choices while promoting human dignity, character formation, and positive decision-making. It is intended for students in upper primary and secondary schools and represents many years of work, consultation, and revision.

Having fully satisfied all curriculum requirements, the handbook is now recommended for wide dissemination to our youth.

As we transition into this next phase, our focus is on building sustainable partnerships of goodwill to support the printing, distribution, and active utilization of this resource across communities.

Receiving NCDC certification was a significant milestone for our ministry. It affirmed the quality of the resource and created opportunities for broader educational outreach.

At nearly the same time, another important milestone was achieved.

A Catholic prayer booklet developed by PCM received an Imprimatur from the late Rt. Rev. Charles Martin Wamika of the Diocese of Jinja. This was especially meaningful because it affirmed the booklet's value as a faith formation resource for young people, families, and communities.

These developments came at a time when we desperately needed encouragement.

Today, we are preparing to print and distribute these educational and faith-based resources throughout Uganda. We are also developing youth engagement initiatives, including awareness wristbands that allow young people and supporters to participate directly in sustaining life-affirming programs.

Our goal is to build a movement of young people, families, churches, schools, and communities committed to protecting life and promoting human dignity.

A long-term vision that also emerged from the difficulties of the past year is the establishment of the LifeLine Maternal and Newborn Health Centre.

Although the centre has not yet been established, we are actively laying the foundation for its future development. We envision LifeLine as a place where mothers, newborns, adolescents, youth, and families can access support, counseling, education, healing services, and community-based care.

The loss we experienced in December 2025 was painful, but it has also challenged us to think more strategically about sustainability, outreach, and impact.

Today, our ministry continues to move forward with faith and determination. We are grateful for every prayer, every partner, every volunteer, and every supporter who has stood with us during this season.

We ask for prayers for Pregnancy Care Ministry as we continue rebuilding and expanding our efforts to serve women, children, youth, and families in Uganda.

We believe God is opening a new chapter for our ministry. While we cannot change what was lost, we can continue building for the future.
