Alex chose life last year after learning she was expecting triplets. She was served by sidewalk advocates from Beyond the Pews for Life and Gospel for Life Ministries when she left the Planned Parenthood in Carbondale, Ill, and those ministries have continued to support and assist her.
Alex is now a busy mom of three-plus-one.
“My situation has been a major life change,” she shared. “And becoming a mother of four has taught me a lot about life, responsibility, patience, and strength.”
For her to say she is “very busy” sounds like an understatement. Not only does she have triplets to care for, but her oldest child is a one-year-old boy.
Alex noted there is “always someone who needs me” as she thought through how much her life has changed in 2026.
Before the arrival of the triplets, Alex had the responsibility of being a mom while working. Added to that she was focused on future aspirations for her education.
“I didn’t know just how much my life would change once I found out I was expecting triplets,” she said.
With the news of the triplets came a wide range of emotions: excitement, gratitude, but she was also nervous as she realized raising one child had already proved to be a challenge.
“There were many questions going through my mind about how I would manage everything,” she told Pregnancy Help News, “how I would afford everything they needed, how I would continue working, and how I would make sure all of my children were taken care of.”
The babies’ father helps support Alex and her children for which she is very grateful.
“At the same time, I know that is a lot for one person to carry, and I don’t want to have to depend on him for everything,” she said.

Seeking a more independent life is her goal so she can be able to provide even more for her children on her own.
“Having four small children also means that the needs never stop,” Alex said. “There are diapers, wipes, clothing, food, bottles, medical appointments, childcare, transportation, and so many other things that come with caring for young children.”
Infant needs times three can become “overwhelming very quickly” Alex admits. “Even simple things that people may take for granted can become a challenge when you have four young children depending on you.”
This is why Alex was so determined to tell her story of what John Lewis and Beyond the Pews for Life has meant to her.
“Their help has been more than just receiving assistance; it has reminded me that I am not alone,” she said. “When you are a mother trying to take care of multiple children and keep everything together, having someone reach out and offer support can take some of the weight off your shoulders.”
Her gratitude for their support is immense as they have helped her, “During a time when I really needed someone in my corner.”

Lewis and the Beyond the Pews for Life ministry stays in expectant and new moms’ “corner” as they experience all the challenges of providing basic needs and often the chaos that can come when adding children to your home which can make things seem feel impossible. Lewis is the founder of Beyond the Pews for Life and executive director of Memphis Coalition for Life, which provides sidewalk advocates outside abortion facilities.
Brandon and Brittany Hamman, of Gospel for Life Ministries, organized a baby shower Alex for which Lewis arranged a location. Brandon Hamman was the first to encounter Alex outside Planned Parenthood and first offered pregnancy help.
“She decided to start school, and we’d help her with gas,” Lewis said. “Today I’m going by to help her with a bunch of school supplies; she’s started college.”
Mom Alex truly is goal oriented.
“Currently, one of my greatest challenges is balancing everything,” she said. “I am trying to be a good mother, take care of four young children, work toward my education and career goals, and figure out how to become more financially stable.”
Her experience so far has been filled with the challenges of feeling tired, overwhelmed, and even uncertain how she will get everything done.
Yet Alex reminds herself of why she is doing it all.
“My children are my motivation,” she said. “I want them to grow up knowing that their mother never gave up, even when things were difficult.”
Her drive to succeed can trip her up at times.
“I have also learned that I cannot be afraid to accept help,” said Alex. “Sometimes as a mother, you want to feel like you can do everything on your own, but there is strength in allowing people to support you.”
So far Lewis and the ministry have followed up with Alex for a full year and are determined to stay with her.
“We’re gonna walk with her and we’re gonna provide supplies and things like that to help her,” Lewis told Pregnancy Help News. “When we commit to walking with a mom, it’s a long-term commitment.”
Alex takes none of that for granted.
“I am grateful for the people who have helped me along this journey,” she said. “Whether it has been through emotional support, financial assistance, help with my children, or simply reminding me that I can keep going.”

“If I could give advice to another woman who is facing a decision or situation similar to mine, I would tell her to stay prayed up and keep being a great mom,” Alex said. “There will be days when you question yourself, and there will be moments when you feel like things are too hard, but don’t let those moments convince you that you cannot do it.”
Alex focuses on a “one day at a time” philosophy and encourages other moms to not hesitate to ask for help or allow your circumstances to cause you to give up on yourself or your dreams.
“Your children are watching you,” she said, “and even when you don’t realize it, your strength is teaching them something.”
Whether it is taking time out to breathe and reset or asking for help, Alex finds she has hope in pushing forward and turning to prayer.
“Most importantly, I want other mothers to know that their current circumstances do not determine their future,” she said.
“I may not have everything figured out right now, but I know that I am trying, and I know that I am not giving up,” Alex said. “My children give me a reason to keep going, and the support I have received from others has reminded me that I don’t have to walk this journey alone.”
